PROJECT AWARD WINNER
Flood Management Project
In recognition of its outstanding contribution to flood management, GMU was awarded the Flood Management Project of the Year Award for the Laguna Canyon Channel Replacement. The project, in collaboration with Orange County Public Works, addressed critical infrastructure challenges following a channel wall collapse in February 2019.
The completion of emergency repairs paved the way for a comprehensive channel replacement effort led by Orange County Public Works on behalf of the Orange County Flood Control District. This ambitious undertaking involved replacing 1,200 feet of channel and addressing failures and wall tilts that exceeded allowable thresholds.
Beyond functionality, the project incorporated aesthetic enhancements for the community's benefit, including decorative fencing and colored concrete elements. GMU's role in providing geotechnical engineering expertise ensured the project's success, highlighting the firm's commitment to innovative solutions and resilience in flood management.
