Geotechnical Engineer

Prior field experience

Evaluation of geotechnical laboratory data along with engineering geologic conditions

Independently perform a wide variety of geotechnical engineering analyses

BS in Civil Engineering ; M.Sc. preferred or motivation to obtain M.Sc. California PE required; GE preferred, or plan to obtain GE in future.

Perform and manage geotechnical investigations.

Manage geotechnical projects from investigation through design and construction.

Prepare geotechnical reports independently and part of geotechnical engineering team.

Engineering Technician

Perform geotechnical observation and testing during project construction.

Perform field density testing on soils, aggregates, and asphalt concrete.

Prefer cross-trained as Registered Special Inspector
Registered Special Inspector

Perform special inspection services during project construction.

Special inspection services include reinforced concrete, masonry, post-tension, structural steel welding and bolting, spray-applied fireproofing, etc.

Fabricate test specimens for concrete, masonry, etc.

Monitor construction activities to check for conformance with project plans and specifications.

Prepare daily Special Inspection Reports to document geotechnical observation and testing.

Relevant certifications by ICC, ACI, Caltrans, and other public agencies

Prefer cross-trained in geotechnical observation and testing (i.e., experience with soils)
Entry Level Civil Engineer/CAD Designer
GMU’s strucutral engineering group is looking for a full time entry level civil engineer/CAD designer with an interest in strucutral engineering. Although a bachelors degree in civil engineering is desired, an AA degree or similar with strong math and physics background will be considered. Strong CAD skills are required. Pavement Project Engineer
Minimum Requirements

Professional Engineer license and 3 years of relevant, full-time experience in pavement engineering

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with coursework in Pavement Engineering

Strong written and communication skills

Pavement or soils related laboratory testing

Experience in PCI survey and pavement management planning analysis

Experience in FWD, GPR, DCP data gathering, analysis, interpretation

Experience in AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS, and pavement management software (Paver and Streetsaver)
-
Self-motivated individual that is comfortable working autonomously or in a team-based environment

Commitment to excellent client relations and maintaining project schedule

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
