GMU's structural team designs all types of walls, from MSE walls to soil Nail and Tie-back walls to Shoring walls and Drainage Structures and Park Improvements (everything on a grading plan and more). GMU performs geotechnical and structural engineering for most projects, leading to a turn-key Geo-Structural design.

M.Sc., PE - Structural Engineering Group Manager

With over two decades of hands-on experience, As the esteemed Structural Engineering Group Manager at GMU, Matt is responsible for crafting innovative designs for various projects. Matt consistently delivers excellence, from earth-retaining structures to enhancing park amenities and resolving complex public works drainage challenges.

His dual proficiency in geotechnical and structural engineering sets Matt apart, enabling him to integrate these crucial aspects into his projects seamlessly. This holistic approach provides clients with a comprehensive, one-stop-shop, high-quality, cost-effective solution.

Matt's extensive project portfolio includes a diverse array of assignments, such as MSE walls, cantilevered retaining walls (in both masonry and concrete), gravity walls, slope stabilization designs (comprising caissons, tie-backs, and soil nails), temporary and permanent shoring solutions, dock designs, landscape structures of various types, slab designs, monument sign designs, light pole designs, scoreboard footings and columns, trellis and shade structure designs, storm drain dissipation structures, spillways, headwalls, and much more.

M.Sc., Staff Engineer


Scott is a seasoned Staff Engineer passionate about structural design. Scott holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Structural Engineering from UC San Diego. With an impressive track record spanning over three decades, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.


Scott's professional journey has taken him across borders, as he has structural design experience in Thailand and the United States. His background includes roles as a Project Manager, Lead Structural Designer, and Head of Construction Design, where he has significantly contributed to a wide range of vertical structures and walls.


Scott's commitment to excellence in structural design is unwavering. He combines his academic foundation with practical know-how to deliver innovative and reliable client solutions.
