Gibby Bridge is under construction near Ortega Highway in Rancho Mission Viejo. This bridge will span over San Juan Creek and will replace an existing “Arizona Crossing” that will be removed as part of the creek restoration efforts. In addition to the new bridge, the project includes a robust revetment system to protect the bridge embankments from scour. The revetment has grouted rip rap installed over top of soilcrete columns constructed using jet grouting techniques. Utilities and new street improvements will also be constructed alongside the bridge project. GMU provided geotechnical investigation and design services. We’re currently providing geotechnical and special inspection services during construction. Project completion will be in mid-2023.
