GMU has assisted Western National Apartments in the development of numerous apartment complexes throughout South Orange County. GMU regularly provides geotechnical investigation reports with recommendations for precise grading and building plans, and assists with construction observation and testing support.
Morena Rockfall/Debris Fence
GMU provided special inspections for the construction of a structural rockfall debris fence in San Diego, California. Special inspections included tie-back and grout observations and reinforced concrete.
Marina Park
GMU was the lead inspector for the construction of a new marina and sailing/community center in Newport Beach, CA. Key components included stone columns, driven concrete sheetpile walls, structural tiebacks and the construction of a sailing/community center. Special inspections included: tie-back grout, reinforced concrete and structural steel erection and welding. QA/QC observations were also performed during tie-back construction and stone column construction.
Laguna Sands Building Retrofit
The Laguna Sands retrofit project included the underpinning and reinforcement of an ocean-adjacent foundation and wall system. Special inspection included: reinforced concrete, shotcrete, and structural welding and bolting.
Cow Camp Bridge
GMU’s team provided special inspection services for the Cow Camp Bridge in Southern Orange County. The bridge is a roughly ¼ mile long bridge spanning the Chiquita Canyon tributary into San Juan Creek. The bridge is a reinforced concrete bridge founded on 8-10 foot diameter concrete mono-piles. GMU worked closely with the construction management team, structural engineers as well as oversight inspectors from the County of Orange. Inspection included reinforced concrete and post–tensioned concrete.
Hilton Garden Inn
GMU provided all special inspection services for a 5 story hotel in Irvine, CA. The hotel is of podium style construction with 2 levels of reinforced and concrete podium structure supporting 3 stories of wood framed hotel room structure. Special inspections included: reinforced masonry, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural welding and bolting, and shear wall/panel nailing observations.
Bake Parkway /Lake Forest Drive Bridges
GMU was the lead special inspector and provided all special inspections for three single span bridges over San Diego and Veeh Creeks. GMU worked closely with the design structural engineer as well as inspectors from both the City of Irvine and County of Orange. Special inspections included reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete and structural steel welding.
