Transportation Projects

GMU has overseen geotechnical work for numerous major Southern California transportation projects including the Laguna Niguel Metrolink Station and several arterial roadways throughout Orange County, including the widening of Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano, the La Pata Gap extension in San Clemente and Antonio Parkway through Ladera Ranch. GMU has also performed geotechnical engineering and design services for more than 30 bridges in Orange and Los Angeles counties, including ones along Crown Valley and Antonio Parkway near Mission Viejo.

Antonio Parkway Widening

GMU has worked with Rancho Mission Viejo and the County of Orange to provide geotechnical design services for the road and bridge widening on Antonio Parkway and a portion of La Pata Avenue. The project includes widening this County arterial highway from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, plus widening of the existing 780-foot long, 5-span bridge over San Juan Creek. For the bridge widening, GMU’s Foundation Report included detailed analysis and recommendations for liquefiable soils that influenced bridge foundations.
