sports parks

GMU has provided geotechnical support to a number of regional sports parks in Long Beach, Chino Hills and the counties of Riverside and Orange on behalf of municipalities and private developers.

Long Beach Sports Park, Long Beach

Client: PBS&J/City of Long Beach

GMU performed a comprehensive evaluation of geotechnical conditions for the proposed Long Beach Sports Park. The proposed 55.5-acre site is planned to contain 48 acres of improvements including six softball fields, three soccer fields, concession buildings, batting cages, a skate board park and a multi-use pavilion. The site is an active oil filed that has extreme changes in topography and large areas of buried debris, numerous oil and gas pipelines and ongoing oil operations and storage facilities. Given the conditions, GMU will develop innovative exploration and remediation techniques to allow for development of the park.
