Landslide Projects
GMU’s staff has worked on some of the largest and most high-profile landslide repairs in Southern California, including the La Conchita landslide in Ventura County, the Via Estoril/Crown Valley Parkway landslide in Laguna Niguel and the Big Rock Mesa landslide in Malibu. Our engineers have conducted detailed investigations to determine why slides occur and have engineered innovative solutions to stabilize hillsides and allow for safe re-development.
Via Estoril Landslide, Laguna Niguel
GMU was called to action when the Via Estoril landslide destroyed six homes and several apartment buildings in Laguna Niguel. As the City’s geotechnical consultant, GMU provided immediate recommendations to define the extent of the hazard and determine which homes to post as unsafe. GMU worked with other private consultants in evaluating the landslide conditions and provided review guidance to City staff in informing the public and evaluating proposed repairs. |
