Landslide Projects

GMU’s staff has worked on some of the largest and most high-profile landslide repairs in Southern California, including the La Conchita landslide in Ventura County, the Via Estoril/Crown Valley Parkway landslide in Laguna Niguel and the Big Rock Mesa landslide in Malibu. Our engineers have conducted detailed investigations to determine why slides occur and have engineered innovative solutions to stabilize hillsides and allow for safe re-development.

Hillcrest Drive, Los Angeles

GMU was contracted by the City of Los Angeles to investigate the Hillcrest Drive landslide and prepare plans to re-grade the slope and remove the landslide. GMU conducted subsurface exploration to define the depth and limits of the landslide. GMU analyzed slope stability and prepared a Geotechnical and Engineering Geologic Report that was approved by the City. GMU then prepared a set of grading plans that achieved the goal of removing the landslide debris.
