Landslide Projects

GMU’s staff has worked on some of the largest and most high-profile landslide repairs in Southern California, including the La Conchita landslide in Ventura County, the Via Estoril/Crown Valley Parkway landslide in Laguna Niguel and the Big Rock Mesa landslide in Malibu. Our engineers have conducted detailed investigations to determine why slides occur and have engineered innovative solutions to stabilize hillsides and allow for safe re-development.

Deerhaven Landslide, Orange County

The Deerhaven landslide in the exclusive Cowan Heights portion of Orange County had threatened two custom homes and severely impacted a portion of a public street. GMU performed an emergency evaluation and a comprehensive geotechnical investigation to determine the cause of the failure and developed and implemented a repair plan consisting of caissons and grade beams, tieback anchors, geogrid reinforced 1.5:1 slopes and a soldier-pile-supported retaining wall.
