INTRODUCTION
GMU Geotechnical, Inc. was established in 1968 to provide high-quality, cost-effective geotechnical engineering services to a select group of public and private sector clients. We take pride in our history of providing practical solutions to complex problems.
Our staff consists of highly qualified registered professionals and engineering technicians with experience in all phases of geotechnical engineering and engineering geology. Our projects have varied in size from single-family residences to high-rise structures, water treatment plants, reservoirs, dams, transportation-related projects, and large hillside developments.
Dennis Evans, Jack Goffman, and John McCormick formed Evans, Goffman & McCormick, Inc. in 1968. From 1968 to 1978 the firm gained a solid reputation for providing geotechnical services on large grading projects and geophysical consulting services. In 1978, Dennis Evans left to form his own firm. Jack Goffman and John McCormick continued to practice as Goffman & McCormick, Inc.
Gary Urban, who joined the company in 1978, became an owner of the company in 1989 and became president of the company in 1993 upon the retirement of John McCormick and Jack Goffman. The company has been known as Goffman, McCormick & Urban, Inc. (aka GMU) since 1993.
Greg Silver joined the company in 1997 and was made a Principal and named Vice President in 2000.
In Early 2005, GMU began to search for a company to complement their demonstrated capabilities in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology and acquired Lejman Geotechnical Group, Inc., (LGGI) in May 2005.
Ron Lejman and Mike Moscrop, formally from Lejman Geotechnical Group, Inc., joined GMU in 2005. Thereafter GMU became formally known as GMU Geotechnical, Inc.
